HPR 503L - Emergency and Preventative Care Lab

Prerequisite(s): Admission in the MSAT program. Corequisite(s): HPR 503. This course will provide knowledge and skills necessary in an emergency situation to help sustain life, reduce pain, and minimize any consequences of sudden illness or injury until advanced medical help arrives. Students will learn how to prevent, assess and appropriately manage specific emergency situations, provide basic respiratory and cardiac emergency care, implement standard first aid procedures and provide emergency care for head, neck, and back injuries. Students will also learn how and when to move a victim, and how to develop and implement an emergency action plan.
