College of Business and Economic Development


Mission

Our purpose is to develop leaders who leverage an entrepreneurial mindset to create value and innovative business solutions. We ensure that all students have applied experiences that build the knowledge and develop the skills needed to succeed and lead in the global marketplace. We support economic development by advancing knowledge through influential scholarship and collaboration with our communities.

The College of Business and Economic Development offers several graduate degree programs with varying career paths.

  • Master of Economic Development: Available in Hattiesburg with hybrid options
  • Master of Human Capital Development: Available in Executive Format (Gulf Park) and Online
  • Master of Human Capital Development with Instructional Technology and Design Emphasis: Available in Executive Format (Gulf Park) and Online
  • Doctorate of Human Capital Development: Available in Executive Format (Gulf Park)
  • Doctorate of Human Capital Development with Instructional Technology and Design Emphasis: Available in Executive Format (Gulf Park)
  • Master of Logistics, Trade, and Transportation: Available Online
  • Master of Professional Accountancy: Available in Hattiesburg
  • Master of Sport Management: Available in Hattiesburg and Online
  • Economic Development Certificate: Available in Hattiesburg with hybrid options
  • Instructional Technology & Design Certificate: Available Online
  • Sport Security Management Certificate: Available in Hattiesburg and Online

All full-time College of Business and Economic Development graduate students who are admitted regularly, not conditionally, can be considered for a Graduate Assistantship position. There are limited positions, and they are awarded on an competitive basis.

Accreditation: The MBA and MPA programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Dual Degree Programs: The College of Business and Economic Development provides students the opportunity to enroll in both the MBA and MSSM programs simultaneously, applying to and graduating from both programs during the same semester. Dual degree programs share 15 hours of coursework. Upon completion of this 48 hour program, the student will receive two graduate degrees: an MBA and an MS in Sport Management.
