Digital Journalism BA

The Bachelor of Arts in Digital Journalism is designed to prepare students for a variety of career positions in industries associated with news, digital media production, website management, social media creation and management, news reporting and editing, sports reporting, television producing, writing across platforms, and photojournalism. The program emphasizes the basics of reporting, writing, editing, design, photgraphy and multimedia, such as video, across a variety of platforms. This program offers two tracks: Broadcast, for those seeking positions in televison, radio, podcasting and other fields; and Multimedia, for those seeking positions as newspapers, websites, magazines and other news- and information-oriented outlets. Professional preparation also required an understanding of the historical, ethical and social responsibility of journalism. The school strives to achieve an integration of practice and theory in its courses.

Internship: The optional internship course (COM 429 ) provides supervised experiential learning in a professional setting. Eligible students must submit an internship application prior to the midpoint of the semester preceding the requested internship. Students should meet with the school’s internship coordinator to discuss internship options. 

Accreditation: The program is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC).
