- In addition to the PLT and Praxis II: World Language exams required for licensure in Mississippi, World Languages (Language Education) students must also take the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview exam. The minimum passing score for the ACTFL OPI exam is Advanced Low. All exam scores must be reported to Southern Miss prior to graduation.
Study Abroad
A semester or year of study abroad is strongly recommended to achieve passing professional licensure exam scores in this program. A maximum of 12 hours of study abroad courses may be applied toward the degree. Your program advisor can recommend the best study abroad experience for your educational and professional goals.
Licensure: This program is designed to meet the licensure requirements of the State of Mississippi Department of Education. Students who plan to complete this program should consult the Teacher Education Program Requirements for program admission, progression, and teacher candidacy requirements.
