Biological Sciences (Conservation Biology) BS

The Biological Sciences program with an emphasis in Conservation Biology is both interdisciplinary and integrative.  It builds upon several disciplines (such as ecology, evolutionary biology, genetics & systematics) that all focus at some level on the various components of biodiversity.  Students have the opportunity to apply the knowledge from these traditional subjects within the framework of the natural history of various taxonomic groups.  The emphasis is designed to allow the flexibility for students to pursue their own interests and acquire the knowledge and skills required for a variety of conservation-related careers in environmental consulting, wildlife management or environmental nonprofits.  Students are also prepared to pursue graduate degrees in related fields.  Biological Sciences (Conservation Biology) majors work closely with a faculty advisor to tailor course selections to fit their specific career goals.
