World Languages (Two Languages) BA Degree Requirements (120 hours)

General Education Curriculum


GEC 01. Written Communication (6 hours)


GEC 02. Natural Science (8-10 hours minimum)


Select 2 courses with labs:

Select 1 capstone course:

a. Two-language majors who are completing a German-only concentration: WL 490  (Capstone)

b. Two-language majors whose primary language is French: FRE 441  (Capstone)

c. Two-language majors whose primary language is Spanish: SPA 441  (Capstone)

Must be taken Senior Year; ENG 101  & ENG 102  prerequisites

Program Curriculum


DEG 01. Major Area of Study Requirements (30 hours)


  • Select 27 hours in two foreign languages 200-level or above, including 18 hours in courses at the 300 and 400 level. Of these eighteen hours, twelve hours must be in a single language.
Select 1 capstone course (3 hours) as described above:

Hours to Degree


120 hours are needed to graduate with a BA in Foreign Languages with an emphasis in Two Languages. Of the total hours applied to this degree, 30 hours must be in courses numbered at the 300 level or above. The student must earn at least 21 of the last 30 hours of course work and at least 12 hours in the major area of study from Southern Miss. See Residence Hour Requirements  for more information.
