The general business emphasis is a degree preparing students for careers in a wide range of business settings. This emphasis is appropriate for students who wish to obtain a business degree but who do not wish to specialize in a single area of emphasis. To ensure that students have some depth of knowledge and an ability to obtain employment, general business students select one of several business certificates which consist of 12 hours of focused coursework. Students also have the flexibility to select 9 hours of business electives that correspond with their chosen careers. This degree is available face-to-face and online. General business majors may not declare a second business major or a business minor. University requirements specify that certificates will be issued only for students that earn a “C” or better, and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 in all certificate courses.
