The Air Force ROTC Program offers a course of study leading to a commission as a second lieutenant and service on active duty. The program is an accredited part of the curriculum of the university. Air Force ROTC may apply toward satisfying the requirements for an academic minor.

Professional Officer Course (POC)/Minor in Aerospace Studies

The minor in Aerospace Studies is only available for Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) cadets. The minor requires 16 hours, including the following: AOS 312 , AOS 312L , AOS 313 , AOS 313L , AOS 412 , AOS 412L , AOS 413 , and AOS 413L .

Restrictions:

Enrollment in the Professional Officer Course (POC) under an Air Force contract (obligated reserve) is limited to those students who have successfully completed all requirements in the General Military Course (GMC) curricula. Individuals entering the POC must have two academic years remaining in college as full-time students at the undergraduate level. After completing their studies, all contracted POC students are obligated to accept a commission and serve as an active duty Air Force or Space Force officer.

Air Force ROTC College Scholarship Program

An aerospace studies committee nominates qualified freshman and sophomore students to compete for one- and two-year scholarships. Scholarships can pay full tuition, as well as certain fees and expenses associated with required courses, including most textbooks. In addition, the recipient will receive between $300 and $500 (tax-free) monthly allowance (depending upon classification) during the school year. Scholarships are awarded based on the specific needs of the Air Force. All academic majors are potential scholarship recipients. Interested students should contact the Department of Aerospace Studies.

Four-year scholarships are also available to high school students. High school students interested in an application can apply online at www.AFROTC.com before December 1, of their senior year.

Department Activities

Air Force ROTC students are eligible for membership in the Color Guard, Eagle Booster Club, and other departmental activities, which can include free flying lessons, summer paid internships with government agencies, paid language training, or base visits.
