HIS 309 - Survey of Premodern Asia

This course offers a broad survey of Asian history and culture from the origins of Asian civilizations until about 1500, covering the entire continent.  Topics covered include the emergence and development of social and political structures, religions, philosophies, and international relations, drawing attention to how these things contributed to world history.  The course is designed to serve as a broad introduction to premodern Asia that facilitates deeper, country-specific study.
