  • TM 467 - Conventions and Meetings Management

    3 hrs.
    Open to tourism majors and minors only. Focus on all aspects of the convention business including marketing to corporations and associations for conventions and special events and providing conference management support activities.

    3 hrs.
    Advanced principles and procedures of the management of hotel operations.
  
  • TM 471 - Regulatory Legal Security Aspects of Casino Operations

    3 hrs.
    Prerequisite(s): TM 378  and Jr. and must be 21 years of age or older. An in-depth overview of the regulatory, legal and security aspects of the casino/resort industry.
  
  • TM 472 - Casino and Resort Marketing

    3 hrs.
    Prerequisite(s): TM 378 , IT 363 . An integrated and in-depth overview of the application of marketing concepts within the casino/resort industry.

  • TM 494 - Strategic Destination Analysis

    Prerequisite(s): Sr. standing. TM 358 , TM 368 , TM 378 . Capstone. An integrated and in-depth study utilizing marketing and financial models in developing an impact plan for a specific destination development project.

    Prerequisite(s): Department consent. A basic course to aquaint the student with the theory and practice of student leadership.
  
  • UNV 122 - Luckyday Citizenship Seminar

    Prerequisite(s): Department consent. A basic course to acquaint Luckyday Leadership scholars with the concepts of servant leadership, service-learning and community engagement.
  
  • UNV 301 - Transfer Student Success at Southern Miss

    2 hrs.
    Exploration of transition issues for new transfer students to Southern Miss, including strategies for minimizing “transfer shock” and maximizing academic success at this research university; open to new transfer students.

    To aquaint students with job-seeking techniques including professional resumé development, cover letter writing, interview skills training and networking strategies.

    Prerequisite(s): Department consent. Explores fundamental concepts and philosophies underlying the mentor’s role in the university setting. Examines methods and techniques associated with effective mentoring.

    Prerequisite(s): Department consent. Introduces resident assistants to a variety of topics for understanding and working with college students and educational outreach in residential communities.

    Prerequisite(s): Admission to McNair Scholars Program. An orientation to the skills and competencies necessary to understanding research and a comprehensive preparation for the GRE.

    Introduces students to women in ancient and medieval Europe, their roles, the attitudes about women, perceptions of their strengths and weaknesses.
  
  • WS 329 - Women in Modern European History

    Provides an introduction to the role of women in modern European history from 1500 to the present.

    A study of major contemporary African women writers.

    A survey of the experience of American women from the colonial period to the present with emphasis on the evolution of women’s role in society to changing economic and social conditions.
