Secondary education students who complete the program are prepared to meet the demands of teaching in today’s secondary schools. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to apply for a 5-year Standard Educator License in secondary education (7-12) with a specified content area. Areas of content endorsement include, but are not limited to, English, social studies, science (biology, chemistry, or physics), and mathematics.

- Students must earn a grade of C or higher in CIS 280 - Introduction to Secondary Education , or its equivalent, to progress into Phase 2 of the program.
- Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 to change majors to programs offered in the School of Education.
- Students must successfully complete any relevant Phase 1 endorsement courses with grades of C or higher.
- A yearlong, residency-based student teaching experience in an approved partner school district is required.
