Master’s Degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences: Deaf Education Emphasis with a Concentration in Early Oral Intervention
The master’s degree in speech and hearing sciences: deaf education emphasis with a concentration in early oral intervention is a 14-month program of study. All students begin in June and complete the program of study in July of the following year. All coursework is delivered at an off-campus location: Magnolia Speech School and adjacent Magnolia Home in Jackson, MS. Concurrent center-based, home-based, and academic-based practicum experiences accompany each academic session in the Jackson area. Final advanced practicum usually occurs out of state. Students complete the following courses in their degree matriculation: SHS 601 , SHS 603 , SHS 608 , SHS 609 , SHS 610 , SHS 611 , SHS 626 , SHS 629 , SHS 637 , SHS 638 , SHS 639 , SHS 649 , SHS 651 , SHS 653 , SHS 655 , SHS 657 , SHS 691 , and SHS 735 . A 3.0 GPA is required for graduation.
