Communication Studies Minor

Requirements for a Minor

All students pursuing a minor in communication studies must complete 18 hours of communication studies courses, including:

• CMS 305 - Interpersonal Communication 3 hrs.
• CMS 311 - Persuasion 3 hrs.
• CMS 330 - Small-Group Communication 3 hrs.

The following courses will not count toward the minor:

• CMS 300L - Oral Language Laboratory 1 hr.
• CMS 411 - Managing the Forensics Program 3 hrs.
• CMS 459 - Methods in Speech Communication 3 hrs.
• CMS 459L - Methods in Speech Communication Lab 1 hr.
• CMS 488 - Student Teaching in Speech Communication I 7 hrs.
• CMS 489 - Student Teaching in Speech Communication II 7 hrs.
• CMS 492 - Special Problems 1-3 hrs.
