Overview

The Department of Finance, Real Estate and Business Law offers two BSBA major degree programs, Banking and Finance and Real Estate.

Each curriculum provides foundations in theory, analytical tools and problem-solving methods fundamental to the financial management of all businesses and specially to firms in the financial sector such as banking, insurance, real estate investment, financial planning and portfolio management.

Students choosing the finance emphasis are prepared for careers in financial management, banks and other financial institutions and the government agencies that oversee the financial sector. The real estate emphasis prepares the student for agent and broker licenses and careers in mortgage finance, real estate investment and management.

The department houses The First Bancshares, Inc. Center for Financial Services that maintains a student computer lab, providing real-time access to current financial information and market trading data, economic forecasts and industry research.  We sponsor an active student chapter of the Financial Management Association and offer a limited number of competitive scholarship opportunities.
