Social Media Content and Strategy Minor

The Social Media Content and Strategy is an interdisciplinary minor that combines the study of Marketing and Communication to introduce you to the world of multi-channel marketing and prepare you for careers in fields such as social media, digital media, digital marketing, e-commerce, content marketing, and internet marketing. Through a combination of lectures and applied experiences approach such as projects, case study, and simulations, you will master the art of crafting authentic content marketing, designing visually appealing graphics, and marketing strategy. Subjects of interest will be content creation, digital media, design software, search engine optimization, social media, content marketing, digital advertising, email marketing, and more.

  • All current USM students are eligible for admission to the minor.
  • Students majoring in the School of Marketing or the School of Media and Communication may have 9 credit hours to overlap with their major DEG01 course.

  • MCJ 102 is a prerequisite for MCJ 300 and MCJ 422.
  • School of Marketing and School of Media and Communication students are encouraged to take an internship in their schools.
  • MKT 300 is a prerequisite for MKT 355, MKT 434, MKT 478, and MKT 479.
