Admission Requirements:

Students may be accepted into the BFA degree upon or after admission after successfully completing an audition (performance track) or interview (design/technology track) process. If not accepted upon admission (with thge interview or audition occuring before the semester of enrollment), then reapply for the program. Students not accepted into the BFA but wishing to major in theatre will be placed into or will remain in the Bachelor of Arts degree plan.

Program Academic Policies and Requirements:

  • See University Academic Policies and Requirements
  • Retention Policy for Theatre Majors
    • To remain in a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree plan, a student must maintain a 3.0 GPA in the track and a 2.5 GPA in all theatre coursework.
    • A student who drops below the GPA requirement for the student’s track will have one probationary semester (not including summer) to bring up grades to an acceptable GPA. A student whose grades do not improve after probation will be barred from taking any additional theatre courses, 300-level or higher, unless he or she again meets the requirements for admission to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts program. However, a student may seek written permission from the school director to retake theatre courses in which he or she earned a D or F, for the purpose of attaining a better GPA, within the university’s regulations regarding the substitution of one grade for another.
    • Students will also be required, at the end of their first two semesters of enrollment in the degree plan, to enroll in THE 299 - Upper Division Assessment ; a 0-credit class in which the student’s progress will be evaluated by track faculty. Enrollment in upper-level courses as a BFA student will require successful completion of THE 299.
