Allied Health BAS Degree Requirements (120 hours)


Available only to associate health graduates who are certified or eligible for certification in the allied health career field. Students are screened for eligibility prior to enrollment. 

Degree Plan


General Education Curriculum (30 hours)


All majors contain the same General Education Curriculum Requirements . Programs may require specific GEC courses, indicated in the Degree Plan (DEG 01, etc.).

University Requirements (4 hours)


First Year Experience (1 hour)


Must be taken first semester.

Select 1 course:

Writing-Intensive (Major Area)


Capstone (Major Area)


Must be taken Senior Year.

Program Curriculum


 

DEG 01. Major Area of Study Requirements (33 hours)


For this major, a minimum grade of “C” is required in all DEG 01 courses to graduate.

DEG 02. Additional Requirements (45 hours)


Select 45 hours of technical credit from a public health technology program or an allied health program.

DEG 03. Electives


Select electives as needed with advisor’s approval. See Hours to Degree below.

Students needing electives are encouraged to select a minor or coursework required for post-baccalaureate programs. Students completing fewer than 30 hours of 300/400-level coursework in DEG 01 and 02 will need additional 300/400-level coursework.

Hours to Degree


120 hours are needed to graduate with a BAS in Allied Health. Of the total hours applied to this degree, 30 hours must be in courses numbered at the 300 level or above. The student must earn at least 21 of the last 30 hours of course work and at least 12 hours in the major area of study from Southern Miss. See Residence Hour Requirements  for more information.
