The undergraduate Forensic Chemistry program at the University of Southern Mississippi is designed to equip students with the skills necessary for careers at the intersection of chemistry and the legal system. This program emphasizes the application of scientific principles to the analysis of physical evidence within a legal context.
Students will receive comprehensive instruction through both classroom learning and hands-on laboratory experiences. The curriculum covers scientific principles, instrumental analysis, the testing and preservation of evidence, and presenting evidence in court. Graduates of this program will be well-prepared for careers in forensic chemistry within both private and government sectors nationwide, as well as for advanced studies in forensic science at the graduate level.
