Forensic Biology BS

The Forensic Biology BS major equips students with a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and various forensic science disciplines, preparing them for careers in forensic laboratories, including positions as Serologists or DNA analysts. Students develop essential skills in evidence collection, preservation, and analysis of biological fluids. They also gain expertise in identifying the sources of these fluids using advanced DNA technologies and instrumentation. Throughout their studies, students will complete coursework in areas such as crime scene documentation, fingerprint analysis, forensic science quality management, fundamental forensic photography, courtroom testimony, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and statistics, among others. This program emphasizes the development of critical thinking and writing skills, highlighting the importance of effectively communicating scientific principles to jurors within a legal context. Additionally, it provides a solid foundation for students interested in pursuing higher education or other professional opportunities in law enforcement.
