Retail Merchandising Undergraduate Certificate

Build and enhance your retail merchandising skills as you explore career opportunities with this 12-credit-hour certificate program.  If you are interested in exploring a career in retail management or owning your own business this certificate is for you.  If you currently work in the retail industry and are interested in career advancement opportunities this certificate can give you the additional skills you need. Take classes in Principles of Merchandising, Retail Buying and Assortment Planning, Applied Merchandising, Retail Management, and more.

All current USM students, except merchandising majors, are eligible for admission into the Retail Merchandising Certificate (RMC) program.  If you are not currently enrolled, you will be considered for admission to the program by submitting the following:

A.    Application for undergraduate admissions
B.    $40 nonrefundable application fee
C.    Official transcript from last school attend or GED certificate.

Note: Students enrolled in certificate programs at the University of Southern Mississippi wishing to seek an undergraduate degree must meet full admission requirements.

Academic Policies and Requirements for Certificates:

University Requirements:

  • A maximum of 3 hours of transfer credit may be used to satisfy certificate requirements.
  • No grade below C will be acceptable for certificate courses.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.500 is required for certificate course work.
  • At least 50 percent of the hours required for a certificate should be outside the DEG01 requirements of the student’s undergraduate major.
