Criminal Justice Graduate Certificate


Overview


The School of Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, and Security offers a graduate certificate geared toward working professionals who want to further their careers and develop a better understanding of enduring and contemporary issues in the American justice system. It is intended to expand existing knowledge about the criminal justice system into a more comprehensive practical and theoretical framework that will aid students in both their academic and professional endeavors.

Admission Requirements


In addition to meeting the standards set forth in the Academic Requirements and Procedures , applicants for the graduate certificate program must: 

  1. Possess an earned baccalaureate degree in criminal justice, criminology or closely-related discipline from an institution approved by a recognized accrediting agency.
  2. Possess a GPA of 3.0 on the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework; or at least five years of professional experience in a criminal justice agency.
  3. Submit application for admission to the Graduate School, along with a transcript and an “Approval for Non-Degree Enrollment in a Graduate Course” form.  

Program Requirements and Academic Policies


The graduate certificate in criminal justice requires completion of five (5) courses, each with a grade of B or better (courses may be repeated one time only). Certificate requirements must be completed within five (5) years from the semester of first enrollment. A maximum of three (3) hours of graduate credit may be transferred into the certificate program with prior approval from the Graduate Admissions Committee.
