Overview
The Physics, MS program includes core courses in Electromagnetism, Classical Mechanics, Statistical Mechanics and Quantum Mechanics. The Master’s program with emphasis in computational science involves research in computational physics culminating in a project or thesis.
Admission Requirements
In addition to meeting the Admission Requirements and Procedures , applicants must submit GRE scores and be proficient in C, C++, or Fortran programming. Students lacking this background should complete a programming course early in their graduate program.

Program Requirements and Academic Policies
In addition to meeting the requirements stated in General Degree Requirements and General Academic Information, students must:
- Satisfactorily complete a master’s comprehensive examination.
- Satisfactorily complete a thesis or project:
♦ Develop and complete an original research project, thesis, and oral defense
♦ Complete a project under the direction of a faculty member
