NUR 855 - Clinical Correlation and Professional Facets

This course builds on the fundamentals presented in the prior basic science and basic principles courses and applies hands-on skills and critical decision making processes related to nurse anesthesia practice. The course follows the professional practice standards of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists with emphasis on providing physical practice for skill development, critical decision making utilizing simulation scenarios, and practice making evidence based anesthesia care decisions. Human Patient Simulation labs will be conducted to facilitate psychomotor skill development and to simulate the physiological effects of conduction anesthesia. Additionally, the professional facets related to nurse anesthesia will incorporated and address many of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Essentials. These include scientific underpinnings of practice, leadership, collaboration, patient care technology and advocacy for the healthcare professions.
