    An introduction to counseling and guidance services at the elementary/secondary school levels. Attention is given to both the range of services typically offered and to principles for organizing and administering a program of guidance services.
  
  • SCS 611 - Career Development and Information Services

    The introduction to theories of career development and an analysis of the world of work. Processes are identified through which occupational/educational and personal/social information may be integrated for career/life planning.

    Introduction to theory and practice of group counseling and psychotherapy. Requires participation in experimental quasi-group. Major theoretical models for group work are surveyed.
  
  • SCS 651 - School Counseling Practicum

    3 hrs.
    Supervised counseling experience in a school setting designed to build student skills and knowledge of school counseling practice. Students will complete 100 hours of supervised practice.
  
  • SCS 653 - School Counseling Internship

    3-12 hrs.
    Prerequisite(s): SCS 617 , SCS 651 . Supervised counseling experience in a school setting. Students will complete 600 hours of school counseling experience which will include individual and group counseling, consultation, program planning, & development. Course may be repeated so that students may accrue the total required hours of experience.
