Mission

Our scholarship focuses on intellectual contributions that advance knowledge in our disciplines, understanding of applications of theory for organizational problems, and practices that influence teaching excellence.

Graduate Degree Programs

The Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) is available online and on the Hattiesburg and Gulf Coast campuses. The Master of Professional Accountancy (M.P.A.) is available on the Hattiesburg and Gulf Coast campuses. The M.B.A. and M.P.A. programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The following dual degree program is offered in collaboration with the College of Health; Masters of Public Health (MPH)/M.B.A. The College of Business offers the M.B.A./Master of Science in Sport Management (M.S.). The M.S. in Economic Development is available on the Hattiesburg campus. The M.S. in Sport Management is available online and on the Hattiesburg campus.

Graduate assistantships are available for all College of Business graduate degrees. Students with good undergraduate records are encouraged to apply at the time they request admission, with a deadline of March 15.

Dual Degree in Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Sport Management

The MBA/Sport Management dual degree will afford gifted students a unique combination of sport industry experience and business knowledge, skills, and abilities relative to assuming an executive sport business position. A culminating internship experience with executives in professional and amateur sport organizations will give the student on-the-job training, networking opportunities and access to a career within the sport industry.

Students must meet requirements and prerequisites in BOTH programs in order to qualify for admission into this dual program. Upon completion of the program, the student will receive two graduate degrees: MBA and M.S. Sport Management. The GMAT or GRE is required for admission into this program.

Course Requirements (69 hour minimum) - MBA 600 , MBA 605 , MBA 610 , MBA 611 , MBA 620 , MBA 640 , MBA 650 , MBA 660 , SM 612 , SM 630 , SM 642 , KIN 670 , KIN 677 ,
SM 682 , KIN 696 , SM 715 , plus nine hours of advisor approved electives, in the MBA program and in the M.S. of Sport Management program (18 hours).

Career Opportunities

Employment for the dual Master in Sport Management and Master of Business Administration graduate will be found in areas such as intercollegiate sports, professional sports, amateur sports, Olympics, event management, facilities management, sport fund raising, sport marketing, sports public relations, and corporate sports.
