Overview

The Department of Finance, Real Estate and Business Law offers three BSBA major degree programs:
    • Banking and Finance
    • Personal Financial Planning
    • Real Estate

A Financial Planning Certificate is available for non-finance majors or non-degree-seeking students.  This certificate is approved by the CFP board as meeting the education requirements necessary to sit for the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) certification examination.

Each curriculum provides foundations in theory, analytical tools and problem-solving methods fundamental to a broad array of firms in the finance, insurance, real estate and financial services industries.

Students choosing the finance emphasis are prepared for careers in banks and other financial institutions and the agencies that oversee the financial sector.  The personal financial planning curriculum prepares students for successful completion of the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) certification examination.  The real estate emphasis prepares the student for agent and broker licenses and careers in mortgage finance, real estate investment and management.

The department houses the Center for Financial Services that maintains a student trading room, providing real-time access to current financial information, economic forecasts and industry research.  We sponsor an active student chapter of the Financial Management Association and offer a limited number of competitive scholarship opportunities.
